  • Kawasaki Crankcase pressure

I recently purchased a 99 Conquest with the Kawasaki engine. The unit was parked for several years and I am in the process of getting it running again. I cleaned the carb and have it running decent at idle but it bogs when turning the throttle. I pulled the dipstick when it was running and noticed a significant amount of air blowing out of the dipstick tube. Is this normal or could I have other issues? I put new gas in but have to change fuel filter and lines yet.

    TIA, Curtis

Pull the air filter and the metal cover over the carburetor and check the vent hose that comes into air cleaner. If it's pinched or something it won't vent properly. If you are getting oil on top of the carburetor from the vent the engine may have worn rings. Many times engines that sit for a long time just need to be run to free up rings and seal up again. Hope that's the case

Masafi65 May be right about the rings taking a set, put 2oz of marvel mystery oil in the gas tank and 4 oz in the crankcase. Run it around then change the oil, get rid of the old dead gas, change the gas filter and hope that clears things up. If the marvel oil helps then add 4 more oz to the fresh oil, it won't hurt to leave it in unless the oil gets very black, then change the oil and filter again
Good luck the avenger is a good machine... RR
