  • Argo Bigfoot 18hp vanguard bogging

So I think I have 2 problems the first I think I solved with a fuel pump after a full throttle run the engine would stall and take 30s cranking to start found out the carb ran out of fuel so after that junk was sorted out.
I found that the bogging issue never went away.
So at idle in high , low or nuteral if you go full throttle the carb will spit fuel into the air filter and chugg with no increase in rpm and if you hold it it will stall.
I cut the plastics retainer off the idle fuel screw leaned out the carb and found fuel setting has no effect of any on the problem at hand , checked valve lash witch is in spec , new spark plugs ngk fr45 I think gapped to .030" cold start open or closed this happens carb is clean and fuel level is correct in the carb
    Any ideas please help
Carb parts are expensive and had to find
It has a Nikki car on it as well
Thanks for the help in advance

When you rev'd the motor up in neutral did you have the air cleaner cover off? I was wondering if the fuel was spitting back up from the carburetor or from the breather tube?

Have you checked your oil to see if it smells like gas? I think that carburetor has a fuel shut-off valve on the bottom of it? If so, test that to make sure that the plunger isn't stuck in the open position.

I had the same issue with my vangaurd. I resolved it after cleaning the carb 3 times and on the third I found oxidation and deposits on the carb lid that were working loose.
