hey friends, the new motor has the key switch mounted on the motor itself. i rewired the the wires so it will plug right into the existing plugs in the machine that the 16 hp used. the new motor has that solenoid ( i think it's called a anti afterfire solenoid ) on the carb. the 16 did'nt. does that have to be wired up for the engine to work ? can it be removed and just plug that hole ? i think i did that on my john deere tractor. if it needs to be wired up, where do they hook up ? there is a white and tan wire going from the solenoid to the switch on the motor. may have another question after these . thanks much ! j.b.

You can wire it up to any wire that provides power in the on position, a separate switch to the battery, or remove the feature all together. It does need power if installed for the engine to fire.
