Me thinking at all is scary! I just set the gap for the coils to .010 and am now getting a faint spark when I pull the plug out but it does not attempt to start.

spark on both plugs? if the resister wire is bad one coil or both coils will not fire. swap the wire from the 14

There is spark on both plugs. I'll swap it out.

well if theres spark now i would put a little gas down the carb and see if it pops off, if so then you to see if there is a fuel shut off solenoid on the carb. if it does you will need to hot wire it to 12v's and try it again

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
              Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Ok....now we have spark, the 6 pole ignition is wired correctly, the gap on the coils are correct, COULD it be that my valves are too tight? Pulled the valve cover off to check things out and there is zero gap. I will set the lash at .05 and see if that helps.

THANK YOU for all the help!

well the graphite head gaskets do compress after there torqued down. if you used them i would retorque the heads after it cools down once it runs for a few minutes

IT'S ALIVE! If I tell everyone what the problem was you can't make fun of me since I am not to engines(I work on cnc machine).....When I put the heads from the 14 on the 18 I set the valves too tight and was not getting compression......

Fired right up. I need to make a bracket for my choke and throttle since the gov has been removed.
