Hi, I was wondering if anyone can give me information. I saw a Kawasaki 25 h.p motor from a John Deere Z Trac for sale for $500, and was wondering if this motor could be installed in a MAX or any 6x6. Looks like it has more than enough power to get a AATV in and out of whatever a 6x6 can go. Has anyone installed this motor and if so how did it work for you?

First it depends on if it's horizontal or vertical shaft, since there's really no practical way to run a vertical in a 6-wheeler. Other possible issues are crankshaft dimensions, direction of shaft rotation and whether or not it'll actually fit in the machine.
If I'm forgetting something I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Thank you for replying. When i looked for info (other than going to a J.D dealer/mechanic) the engine appears to be horizontal. As for shaft rotation and size nothing was said on the J.D sites. I am guessing that this engine can be made to fit after seeing some outrageous set ups on this site, lol.

Deere used few horizontals, crankshafts larger than 1-1\8 would probably need crank turned or replaced, most all engines spin the same though some garden equipment drive from opposite side of engine.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Thank you all for helping. The engine owner said that it side shaft driven, either a 1 1/16 or 1 inch and believes it turns clockwise. He said it has 1500 hours and will need a rebuild ( according to a J.D dealer) yet it runs, just a little rough. Any suggestions?
