  • Which cam should I buy for an Briggs Vanguard 18HP?

    Hello,

I'm going to buy a cam for my 1997 Bigfoot Argo...18 HP Vanguard V-twin. I would like the most bang for the buck.

The question is which one would be best suited for this machine?
Choices as far as I know are: Cheetah cam , Vanguard V-twin(35-3030),Golf Kart Killer(35-P4265) or Big midrange(35-P4275).

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank-you

would need to know your carb setup, in some cases it will run worse if the cam is the only change made

      Hello,

The carb is a 2-barrell setup with high flow intake adaptor and washable x-2 air filter(From ECCarb), governor is removed
Also has the following : Timing advance key, steel pushrods, heavy duty lifter springs, Thin head gaskets, exhaust restrictors removed and exhaust opened up.

It runs pretty good right now was an improvement over stock......I'm not looking for high speed it will already do 30mph on the road, but loaded/mud bogging/hill climbing it is still kinda gutless IMHO

      Thanks for your help
