  • Spark plug question, Kawasaki fd 620

The manual says to set the gap at .024-.028 I set it at .025
My question is. What and why would you want to set it at .028 or at .024 or all points in between?
Elevation? better idling? Better starting in cold weather?
What do you set gap at?
    Thanks!

I think they wrote the manual for guys like me that can't differentiate between a loose .024 and a tight .028?

.024 - .028 is the ideal range. Any smaller than .024 and you sacrifice spark size, any larger than.028 and you run the risk of a weak spark. Electrodes wear over time, if you gapped at .028 to start with your gap would be too large after a short period of time. a snug 0.025 is where I would gap them, as they wear they will appraoch 0.028 at which point you can clean them and regap them or just replace them.
