18 hp B&S Vanguard parts interchange.

I have a Max 2 clone with the Briggs 18 hp Vanguard Twin. I live in Mexico so it's not easy getting stock Briggs parts. Can anyone tell me what non-Briggs oil filter and spark plugs they use? I've tried looking up the interchange but find a wide variety of recommendations. Thank you for any information. I'm glad to have found this forum.

I don't have any go-to brand when it comes to the oil filter. I typically go for an NGK spark plug but I don't know the part number off hand. You should be able to either cross reference that or perhaps order something online over the border before you need it.

Thanks for the info. When I started digging into some of the specs for the oil filters there was some varience in gasket thickness and other details. I finally decided on the fram 8170. I like Autolite spark plugs so I'm going for the autolite 3923 plugs. There is an Auto Zone in the capital of this state. It's a couple hours away but they do have a good selection.
