  • 18 hp B&S Vanguard parts interchange.

I have a Max 2 clone with the Briggs 18 hp Vanguard Twin. I live in Mexico so it's not easy getting stock Briggs parts. Can anyone tell me what non-Briggs oil filter and spark plugs they use? I've tried looking up the interchange but find a wide variety of recommendations. Thank you for any information. I'm glad to have found this forum.

I don't have any go-to brand when it comes to the oil filter. I typically go for an NGK spark plug but I don't know the part number off hand. You should be able to either cross reference that or perhaps order something online over the border before you need it.

Plugs should be: Champion RC12YC; Ngk BCPR5ES

Filter if its actually a Briggs this is what I have found in the past.

Thanks for the info. When I started digging into some of the specs for the oil filters there was some varience in gasket thickness and other details. I finally decided on the fram 8170. I like Autolite spark plugs so I'm going for the autolite 3923 plugs. There is an Auto Zone in the capital of this state. It's a couple hours away but they do have a good selection. Thank You for the help. Glad to be part of the porum.
