Ok 2 strokers,my machine seems to be very finicky about when it's gonna have spark and run and when it isn't!! Tried to get going for 3 days and lost that battle!! Walked out to it tonite and hit key and it fired right up like I just rode the thing!!! Anyone have any clue on what could cause this??? 2nd time it's done this to me.

    Thanks

My very first guess is that it's flooded out Dave. How do your plugs look when it won't start? Are they gas-coated? After sitting for a bit, enough gas down in the crankcase likely evaporated. Once they get a lot of gas down in the case it can be tough to air out. I like to put a propane torch down the spark plug holes to try and help the process. Try a new set of plugs and prop the throttle wide open and pull it over next time she floods, if that's what seems to be happening.

Mike the plugs are wet so I tried new ones and laid them on the head while I cranked and neither one was showing a spark.this motor came out of a ultralight and I had to run a toggle switch to kill it because it's wired different than old jlo was.other than that key switch works for lights and charging system. Could something get moisture in it to cause this I'm wondering.

      I'm baffled!!

Try another key switch as inner contacts can corrode. Or if it is ground killed try to disconnect it, if it is power fed try to direct wire it as these will take one small issue out of the equation.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
        Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

The Denso CDI units on most Cuyunas need to be grounded to run, and you break ground to kill. Backwards, I know....

With the CDI unit, you're going to want a real flamethrower for a spark. If your spark plug caps are clean and tight on the wires from the coil, you're running new plugs and the unit is properly grounded, an intermittent or weak spark is likely either in the coil or a problem with the CDI box.

I wonder if it wasnt the ground that night too?It was super bowl sunday and we rode all 3 machines to bar at 11am and somehow at midnight 1 wouldnt start!!! LOL not sure if it was the cdi or all the beer i drank that day!!

Thanks again for the info!! wish I was comin back out to pine lake again but gonna have to wait till spring!!
