Thoughts on the briggs opposed twin 18hp in an Attex

Picked up a free briggs and stratton 18hp opposed twin I/c horozontal shaft engine. It needs a go over as it's been sitting outside uncovered with no intake big question mark for the inside. Spins over but has water in the oil. I planned on putting this into an Attex st295 that's been sitting behind the garage. My question is would it be worth it giving it a go over or save up for the vanguard v twin? I'll post a few pix of the engine. I did see one here online somewhere of one installed on an Attex. Was painted yellow. If I could find it again id like to ask how the machine performs. want to make a simple gas and go 4 stroke not so much for speed but power on hills and terrain. I'm sure I'll need to figure up a 4 stroke engine mount and figure on the 4 stroke clutch 1"shaft

There are a few machines running that engine which seems fine, if it has compression and fires with an oil change I'd say run it if it fits. Be sure of the charging system in it as some mower engines only had 3 amp charging systems.
The opposed were stock in later Hustler's (16 & 18) and Argo Twins (16 in the 6 wheeled version).

I'm running a 20 horse opposed in a Hustler. It has plenty power.

I'll tell you the only thing I don't like about my opposed engine is at idle and low rpm it sounds like its knocking. I believe its because the pistons reach top dead center and bottom dead center at the same time.
