  • G13a engine in max II

Just picked up a 1.3l motor from a Suzuki samurai to stuff in my max II project.

    I will update as I make progress.IMG_20171002_174418.jpgIMG_20171002_174426.jpgIMG_20171002_174434.jpgIMG_20171002_174454.jpg

What HP does that make and how much does it weigh? I'm a fan of projects like this. Break out the shoehorn and get it in there.

From what I remember from my 4 wheelin days. Those engines where 60hp when fresh.

60hp as installed in the samurai.
I'm hoping to get 75 or so out of it with a Weber carb and better exhaust.

        As for weight, not much.
I was able to lift it out of the back of my car by myself with all the extra stuff still bolted to it.
Should be about #150 once it is stripped down to the bare essentials.

It is basically the 3cyl Geo motor (g10a) with an extra piston.

I'm going to have a stub shaft to accept the primary made up to bolt to the flywheel, and I'll have to cut the bell housing off the trans to mount the starter, but it shouldn't be too hard to get it in.

I'll have to fab up a third mount and built a radiator support, but the wiring is super simple as it has an electronic ignition that does not require a control box(all the timing advance is done inside the distributor) so it will only take one power wire and a ground to make it run.

Did you haul that in an Audi Wagon? Diggin' the German cars, I have a few. Also should be a fun machine!

Mk4 VW golf, don't have an Audi right now.
I'm a VW and Volvo guy mostly(currently have two more
            Mk4 golf's, a rabbit pickup and a vanagon camper)

I wanted to use a VW motor, but they are all way too heavy/big, so I settled on the g13a.
