want to modify a B&S 16 hp in Max II

i just bought a Max II, and i like the 16 hp, but i was wondering if there are any simple mods i could do to increase power. i don't want to tear the engine down or invest much to get huge gains, just maybe some small bolt on stuff or adjustments, etc.

Best thing to do first is check the belt width and tension. If the belt is too narrow or too loose you'll lose bottom end and top end. The tighter the belt, the better. (except for the machine creeping in gear)

alright, i'll check that first thing when i get it this weekend. i have to take the carb off and clean it...any adjustments there? does k&n make an air filter that fits briggs?
