  • Battery Help

If I don't keep the battery of my Max IV on a battery maintenance charger( 2amp) it will be dead in about 3 weeks. I am on my second battery from Tractor Supply in approx. 4 months. Am I missing something on the Max IV ?, everything is OFF. Going to install a Mason(Michigan made) 36 month all weather battery in the fall for my hunting and ice fishing trips. I have had a Mason battery in my lawn tractor going on 6 years now and never had charged it, always stored for the winter in cold shed in southern Michigan, and it always starts in the spring. What do all of you do? Any help is deeply appreciated. Thanks

I've had a similar issue with my Buffalo, I'm wondering if it is not the hour meter's minimal draw just depleting the charge. Try disconnecting the battery after a charge and see if it stays up disconnected.
The U11 lawn mower style (L posted) batteries usually only have a life span of 1-2 years for some reason though you may get that magical 5-6 year one, I have also.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Will try that. I also thought of adding a battery disconnect like on boats, the new engines still draw to keep the computer going.

I was only getting a year or two out of the small battery’s then made a battery box for a car sized battery. Peace of mind in the winter.
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.

I only start my 76' Big Max a few times spring-fall and it's usually kept in a garage over winter, but I still have the same gel battery from Napa (they're pretty expensive) that I put in in 2007.
