I’ve been reading about these motors and they seem really robust and well engineered. Has anyone been able to get more horsepower out of them by modifying? If so can you recommend how I could go about do it to my 16hp. 20hp would be a nice figure to obtain, and one that I think wouldn’t stress the motor out to much. I’d like to stay with stock which is why I’m not really interested in motor swaps at the moment. Thanks

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.

I built one of those a while back.....I put in a cam, stiffer springs, did a valve job and got rid of the governor. Cant remember if i replaced the valves to fit the new cam, i might have. I think i spent only a couple hundred bucks on the whole build. The engine was in the 24 hp range. Those are cool motors with a long stroke so they produce a lot of torque. The weak points are the rods and the stock flywheel, so get a rpm gauge and don't run the engine over 4500 rpm. The Tractor pulling guys are getting 60hp out of these, just depends on how much you want to spend. Midwest has a good selection of parts.
Good luck!
Chris
