  • jlo L295L flywheel puller

Hello, I am looking for the thread size of the puller for the flywheel for this engine so I can order one or fabricate one, I would like to have the right tool for the job and have seen the horror stories of pulling these flywheels but in my experience the right tool can save a lot of headaches and bloody knuckles.
    Thanks,
    Mike

You can use a steering wheel puller not problem, I use one on mine. The thread size is M6x1.0 metric.

Thanks! That worked perfectly, tightened it up, one smack with a ball peen hammer and it popped right off. What is the correct way to set the gap though, I marked the keyway and removed inner flywheel and set tds and I was able to get feeler gauge in, seemed like a strange way to go but it was all I could think to do, the gap was good so reassembled it but haven't tried it yet.

If you are just setting points you can do it by taking the cam off the back of the flywheel, much easier. If you are going go all out with the timing too then you need a dial gauge and timing light to set it correctly. How far away from Youngstown or you? Maybe we can get together and I can show you.

That is what I did to set the points, I'm hoping cleaning them solves the spark issue. I appreciate the offer and may take you up on that, I'm less than an hour away and could bring the engine down to you, but when time allows I'm going to try it and see if I have spark and if there are fuel issues, do you have a carb recommendation to replace the walboro that I have now?

Cleaning the points worked, got it mounted back up and started right up still have a carb issue when throttling up need to feather the thrttole to get up in rpm's but runs good at full throttle still think a carb swap may be in order.

Great to hear! I am running a Mikuni VM-30 on my 1st gen Attex. It runs very well.
