  • Kawasaki FD620D Temperature Sensor

    Hello again folks,
Another question, now I have the engine running, I’m a little concerned that the pointer on the temperature gauge on the dash panel is not moving.
I’d expect it to move upwards when the engine is warm.
Is there any way to check the temperature sensor mounted in the block?
    Thanks in advance

I’ve done a little research and discovered I need to check the resistance in the sensor.
The video I looked at suggested checking the actual dash gauge, I understand if you ground the single wire going to the sensor, with the ignition on, the dash gauge should rise.
I need to pull the gauge from the dash and inspect the wiring and check there are no breaks in any wires.

Make sure you have all the air bled out since sensor won't read air temp most times.

I am putting head gaskets on mine now, the fan didn't come on because I didn't bleed system. DRATS!!

        Argo Kawasaki's have mechanical fan

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
        Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

          Success.....
All the wiring showed power, a good earth and continuity on all wires.
Submerging the bottom of the sensor suspended in a pan and heating the water showed a change in resistance, this proved it was okay.
I had an old 2” temperature gauge with the same, power, earth and sensor connections as the Argo gauge.
I connected this up to the Argo wiring and grounded out the sensor wire, the needle on the gauge rose quickly, something it didn’t do when checking the Argo gauge at first.
Connected the sensor wire and fired up the Kawasaki, went for a test run on our ground and happy days, after the warm up the gauge is showing 60 oC - 140 Fahrenheit (hopefully that operating temperature sounds about right) :-)
