  • Smoke'n Max IV Command 20hp.

I have a 2001 Max IV with a Kohler Command 20 hp. It has been running great up to the other day. I have an area where I deer hunt that I can not run the Max fast, always alittle over throttle speed. Start engine with choke and usually go from there out to the blind. Well the other day the Max started to smoke very heavy, and lost power, only happened a few times and haven't had time to check it out yet. Any suggestions on where to start? Any help is deeply appreciated. Thanks

Went to the farm and ran Max, no smoke no problem. Must have been a choke issue overloading carb??? Didn't take anything about to investigate. Had that problem with wife's Max II, choke stayed closed and flooded everything, air filter was soaked with gas and oil, ran rough and smoked. Will let you all know tomorrow when running to deer blind. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Hopefully that is all that it was, a sticking cable could have been the culprit.
I did have an issue with 2 of my Kohlers, needle and seat had build up of nastiness on them from this useless gas causing needle to stick and flood out engine. I'd check your oil for gas smell, found one engine 1/2 quart over full with gas.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
        Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.
