I have a 6 wheel argo that i have just replaced all of the bearings and chains. After reinstalling the 16 hp tecumseh i do not have any spark. Any idea what it might be?
    Thanks Phil.

      Hi:
Well, if the machine has points, and if it's an older engine it
will, clean them. First check that the plug is not massively foweled, try a different plug, even a different type, just plug it in and rest on CLEAN metal and check, if that sparks, install a new plug. Check kill switch wires and plug wire for damage, once all the easy stuff is checked out OK, then Check the gap of the points, to be sure it's not just too far out of spec, if not then clean the surface with 220 then 400 grit sandpaper, this will clean them right up. Just sand untill all the black junk is gone, don' remove too much. Set gap again and re-assemble the engine, you should be good. (I'm not stating the gap cause I don't know it for your engine, I have little Techumseh experience.) If you have the manual, no problem, if not, try searching for the manual online.

My argo does not have points. After reading a shop manual i have found that the magneto is reading to many ohms, now i will have to try to find one. I think the part # is 610906.

have you tried to get a new one?a buddy got one new about 6 years ago, about $80-90 .dont know if still avil.also remember seeing a post on a lawntractor racing forum about using a ign.coil and a pick up coil of some type using the stock flywheel trigger.had to start at full advance.the mag apparently retards timing at very low RPM.sorry i dont remember more but if your stuck it could be worth looking into HTH

hi i had the same problem a couple months back. Mine turned out to be the coil, but when i tried to order the part it was discontinued. It turns out tecumseh is going out of business. I looked for a couple weeks to find a used coil with no luck. I ended up buying a new 18hp vanguard. I hope you have better luck than me.
