  • Blew up in my face, Literally

    Hey Guy

So i was working on the my 6x6 yesterday. Attaching throttle cables, ignition, Kill switch all that good stuff. But anyway i started it up everything sounded good then BAM! all i saw were sparks, and metal flying. After the smoke cleared. I looked to see what had happened. turns out that the flywheel had shattered. (see pics below (thats all i could find of it) All i know is now i need a new flywheel, and that I cant find the model number. Could you guys help me. Im looking to find a good place to buy parts, and maybe some information on this motor, or if anything else may have broke that i need to check. (I broke the gears on the starter too)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

yikes!!!! did the entire flywheel blow appart, or just the ring gear? looks like it was bolted on from the pics. if so you might just need a new ring gear.

on a briggs the model and serial#'s should be stamped on the base plate, near one of the mounting bolts. they are also usually stamped into the flywheel cover. most any mower shop can get the flywheel from briggs. if you know of a mower shop that's been around a long time, they might even have a used one laying around

well i would like to say that no one did get hurt, but actaully my friend took a hit to side of the head and the shoulder, pretty nasty cut on his head but no stiches. It was a series of bad events. First off, i had the cover off so i could hear the noise, and secondly my friend had moved close to see if he could hear the noise any better, bad idea to say the least. I guess thats how you learn though, haha.
