  • Does anyone change their oil weight for the winter?

I have always run straight 30 wt, but am having second thoughts and wondering if I should change to 5w30 now that the high was 8 degrees F here today.

It warmed up dramatically. It is 10 degrees F today.

I am still concerned that I have a crankcase full of frozen molasses.

I think straight 30 is good because it doesn't have the multiweight polymers to break down and lose viscosity, for summer weather. Probably won't turn over in this weather with 30wt, unless it's garage kept.

It's amazingly cold.. can't imagine what it's like farther north Tulsa was 73 Sunday afternoon, Monday morning low was 19. (guys up north are snickering about now)
