  • Tillotson filter question

I have a Tillotson HR65A (according to the numbers on the carb) it has a screw on filter at the bottom of it, is there a way to eliminate this filter and just put a standard fuel inlet plate, screen and gasket or does the filter act like a bowl for the carb?

I would just leave it alone, but add another filter in the line...... better safe than sorry..

You can replace the filter with a plastic piece with a nipple for the fuel line. If you have a hard time finding one, the older Mercury outboards [9.8- 20 hp] used the same size. If you check with a dealer they can probably supply you with one. But don't depend on the screen to act as a filter. Put an inline one on.
