  • k440 with no spark

i finally finished the wiring and got the new starter in my unit (k440 ams argo) now i have no spark and i only have 110 psi in 1 cyd. and 120 in the other. so if any 1 is good with the 440 ams motor and wouldent mind me shooting them a phone call i would greatly apperitae it a lot

You wrote "now I have no spark", did you have spark before you did the rewire ? Did you install a new ignition switch ?
New points should be set with a gap of 0.016".

          no spark

dont know if i had spark before i rewired. the harness was so bad nothing worked and the starter was locked up. i reused the old ign.switch. after the wiring was done everything worked good then i put the new starter in and i had spark in 1 cyd. but not the the other 1 then after i ran my compression tests i had no spark at all.so i pulled the motor then i pulled the flywheel i could c 1 set of points where burnt but the other set looked ok. not sure how thick the contact points r suppost to be tho. i couldent c on the points where you would make the adjustments to set the gap, it doesent look like they r adjustable. as for the compression is 110-120 ok for that motor or should i redo the topend while i have the motor out.

            Rod,
If you loosen the screw that holds the points in place there should be a notch in the stationary half of the points and the plate they mount to where you can use a screwdriver to adjust them. With spark on one cylinder and one set of points looking burnt I'd say you found the problem (the points). The good looking set may just be dirty. I am not sure what the compression readings for that motor should be, but if you have a way to bench run it after you get the spark issue sorted out you may find the readings improve after it has been run.
