      More frustration.

While trying to check the timing I found that even when the points were open the circuit was still complete. I also found that if I test between the stator plate and the wire coming out of the coil (on the stator) that they are shorted. I thought they should be isolated??? Are the coils on the stator bad?

Red wire from points to ignition coil also shows a connection (short) to stator? Is this correct?

      Any ideas?????

I'd bet the coils are fine. I've tried to check timing with a voltmeter and it's almost impossible- light works much better. The light won't go out when the points open, it dims enough to notice though. I'm assuming it's making a connection through the coil to ground when the points are open. Here's the scan of the page, but Photobucket sized it down and it may not be clear enough, so I can email you the full size scan if you need it.

If you take an old flashlight and use jumper wires to make the point set your switch, it works fine: just watch the light as you turn the crank slowly and you'll see the light dim as the points open. You should be on the mark when that happens.

        Good luck!
        Don

Don your a lifesaver. If someday we ever meet in person I owe you several drinks.

I will give it a try again later today. I can read your scan fine!

          Thanks

Does anyone have part numbers and a source for circlips, wristpins and wristpin bearings for the G50b?

I am checking with Richard Clark for pistons and rings. The ones in it say .50 on them...is that 1st over?

            Thanks
            Jim

Do any of you know the dimensions of the piston pin? I am not at home right now and can't measure them. I am also needing the size of the circlips.

I found that the bearings are 20x24x19.

I still need a source for these parts.

This is from memory, so I'm not %100 sure, but here goes: The piston pin is 20mm, and Xenoah used two different bearings to go along with the different cranks they used. The outside diameter of one is larger and fits into a larger bearing surface in the top of the connecting rod. I don't know why they used different rods/bearings, but the pistons and pins are all the same.

The pistons marked .50 are first over - the only ones I've seen are .50 and 1.0.

The place that may still have some of the NOS parts is CPC Parts for WetBike,Ultranautics,Indian,Jo It's best to take the phone number off the site and talk to Vern- he knows the inventory by heart but doesn't do internet.

                Good Luck

Thanks again Don. I just talked to Vern at CPC and they had everything (pistons, rings, needle bearings, etc) at a very reasonable price.

I might actually be able to ride this weekend!!!!
