  • Wiring help for Tecumseh 16hp in max iv

    Hi Guys,
I'm stumped (easy for a newbie). I've circled the wires in the attached picture that don't currently connect to anything. I know something isn't grounded properly since the motor won't shut off with the key, and nothing seems to be going back to charge the battery. Can someone markup this image showing where to connect these wires? Thanks!!!!

You could contact Recreatives Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511 and they would most likely be able to help you out with it. They have manuals and just about any part you could ever need to fix your problem.

I did, and they sent me a wiring diagram which I used to wire up most of it, but I can't decipher from the diagram where the circled wires in the picture go.

          Black Plug

If the white wire with the flat end plugs into the black plug with the two female flat connections (green wire side, I'm assuming a ground) does the other female flat connector (red wire) go back to the battery (for charging)?

The one with the eyelet is red, doesn't that mean it's live, not a ground?

          So confusing

I would take a multimeter or a test light on it first to make sure its not.

              red with eyelet

One down, the red wire with the eyelet is power to the headlights ;-)

picture of max iv and oh160

                Hi,
I'm waiting on a new ignition module for my oh160 to arrive and I'm nervous about how things are wired (on not). Anyone with a max iv and oh160, could you take a picture of your engine compartment, especially, showing how it's wired up? That, coupled with the helpful descriptions I've received of how it should be wired, should help this newbie get everything back together, and not blow another module. Thanks!
