Sorry I couldn't get on sooner- After wrecking the truck Friday night, I went into the ER in the wee hours of Monday morning doubled over with stomach pain- got my appendix out yesterday. This is starting off as quite a vacation!
Man, I guess two bad bearings wasn't so bad after all.

Sorry to hear that Don! My appendix took a dive last February, the day after my birthday. It was a great present. I hope you are feeling better soon!
Beth

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
DON, Glad to hear that you're OK, talk about a 1-2 punch. I stopped at George's today and he told me what happened, just glad to see you back on again, hope to see you soon

i pulled the engine to check the points, and found a few other issues. i couldn't get the flywheel off ( i had enough pressure on it with the puller that i thought it might break!) , but i was able to check gap through one of the windows. cleaned the points. the pulse line on the back of the block was loose, so i put a new one on. i also found that the carb is stripped out where the choke assembly threads in. that took a little creative work with teflon tape, saftey wire and red RTV silicone, but i got it sealed. i also found the exhaust to be leaking where the flex pipe meets the muffler. i have no clue which of those things fixed it, but she runs pretty well now. now it's time to pull the sprocket bolts and see if i can get any of the tubes free from the axles
