  • Chaparral electrical question

    Hustler electrical problem,
Has any one got a wire diagram for this hustler?
I have a 2 stroke twin Chaparral motor. I got it to run for about 10 min and couldn't restart. From key switch IGN position I have 1 hot white wire going to the rectifier. From rectifier 2 yellow to stator. Also from key 1 black to stator.
When I turn off the IGN I get a small pulse on the black. Is that wire need to be hot or is it a kill wire.
    Any info would be appreciated.http://www.6x6world.com/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif
    Thanks Tim

The black wire should be the kill to the coils,It has to ground out the coils to kill the motor.

      Won't start

That is what I think is happening. With the IGN on I have no hot wire to coil from cdi box. The way it was running and shut it self off leads me to think the cdi box is the problem. any ideas?

The 484 G50B Chaparral is actually an Attex Superchief and RIM engine. There are quite a few experts on the site when it comes to them. Try posting this question up in the Attex section of the site with a title "Chaparral G50B Electrical Issue" and I'm sure you'll get the help that you need. Unfotunately I can't help you since I never owned one of these engines. Good luck with it.

          Engine

I not sure about your motor, but mine has a Kohler k440-2AX. I think they are similar.

          yellow
          yellow w/stripe
          green
          green w/stripe
          2 black

the yellow and green goes from the points to the rectifer and the two blacks are from the condencers to the switch.
You can touch the two black together to kill the engine.
I hooked a standard car ign to operate the lights and starter, and the black wires to a push-button style horn that make the connection with the two when pushed.

Or maybe this diagram will help.

Or I could be all wrong since you said something about a CDI???

roadster i was thinking of a 4 stroke,Not sure on that 2 stroke. If you have the ignition coils that run off the flywheel then there is no power wire to them. The flywheel type coils have a black wire that grounds them out to kill the motor.Hope this helps,Did'nt want to give you wrong info.

              484 G50B

Thanks guys I know nothing about this machine. This motor could be a retro fit I had to lift the rear seat to accommodate the motor.. I purchased a basket case.I wanted to get it ready for a trip to Steamboat Co for the 4th. but it stopped running. I will say this in the short time I ran the machine the sod was flying. If the wife had access to the gun locker I would be dead now. I think I will shoot this question to the Attex section. I think it could be The 484 G50B Chaparral an Attex Superchief and RIM engine.
Hey How big is that and what's RIM stand for
              Thanks Timhttp://www.6x6world.com/forums/image...er-burnout.gif

The G50B is 484cc and rated at 48HP.....a great engine. A RIM is the same thing as a Max IV. It stands for Recreation Industrial Military.

As far as I know the G50B didn't come with a CDI....it has points.

That is true but many have used CDI parts from the G44B to convert the
G50B to CDI. I've done it with guidance from Don.

You can check this out too. It might help.

                        Jeff,

There have been a few Hustlers that have popped up with a G50B. With the wide differences in all the hustler models there is no telling if a few came from the factory with the G50B. I think hustler like most of the manufactures used whatever they could get a good deal on.

At least that is my story if I decide to put a G50B motor in my Hustler for next year stock class
