    you certainly helped me rule out a problem. i think the float level is too high, or the float needle is junk. tonight when i had it running with the air cleaner off it would sometimes spit a little fuel out the back of the carb.

      If when you give it throtal gas sprays out the carb there could be a air restriction in the exhaust pipe. If the problem has slowly got worse try taking off the head pipe and look to see it there is carbon bilt up in the exhaust port. Also if there is a spark arestor on your silencer look to see if it has carbon built up on it restricting the flow. If you are setting the float in your carb try setting it parallel with the base of the carb.

        Brian, do you happen to know what size carb on there? You might be able to use one off a snowmobile for parts.

          ok, pulled the carb one more time today at lunch. lowered the float level and it runs much better. still a little stumble on the top end but i can live with it. this machine is going to end up with a 4 stroke, but i wanted to have this engine running and on the shelf for the next project that comes along.
