  • Still need new motor

Really need a new motor while I have the transmission out and everything disconnected.

Found New! 570cc Briggs Vanguard OHV Engine-LP/NG 1" shaft - (eBay item 280157586853 end time Oct-03-07 17:00:00 PDT)

Sort of like the idea that it is propane. Anyone running anything like that?

Also between the 16hp tecumseh and 18hp vangaurd will i notice a difference? I was trying to step up to 20hp range, then found some 27's that aren't that much more expensive. It's going in a max IV.

Keep in mind the taper on many of the propane-fueled engines. Many of them (like in your second posting) are tapered for generator use, and don't have the 1" straight keyed shaft. I would imagine you'd notice a big difference in overall power between the Tecumseh single and the Briggs twin. I don't have numbers in front of me, so I'm just guessing, but I would imagine that the Briggs would have gobs more low end torque. A nice thing in the Max IVs. If you have the chance to upgrade into the mid twenty HP range, I wouldn't hesitate. Kohler twins fit nice back there, too.
