  • remote oil filter for briggs vanguard

Started checking for a remote mounted filter setup for my 18hp briggs. The information I got from the briggs site, the parts were going to cost me about $200.00 US. At that cost I will attempt to make my own. If anyone is interested, when it is done I will post a template of what I make so you can make your own. From the pictures I seen, it appears to be 2 flanges, 4fittings and 2 hoses. I have access to hydraulic fittings and hoses, so I just have to make the flanges. How hard can that be?

    remote filter

I cut mine off and tigged shut plate retapped, and did same to housing. I used 1/4 inch braded lines to plumb. really simple if you have acess to tig welder.

I made mine from some 3/8 in aluminium. Used the gasket from the oil filter mount as a template, drilled and tapped the 2 holes and bolted it on. I used the filter and mount from the engine to make the remote. Used aluminium angle and placed it between the body and the metal support. Was going to mount it off the side of the transmission, then I realized that if I didn't have a plastic baggie to put around the filter at change time, it was going to be a bit messy. Works well.
      Cheers,
