    Am rebuilding a 14 vanguard. The only pistons i can find are .02 over and are running 75.00 apiece. it will have to be bored any ideas for cheaper pistons? Dwhite

    Take a look at these pages. They're talking about using honda pistons in a 16 vanny. They are also talking about using a longer aftermarket rod and shaving the piston tops. That gives a flat top piston at deck height for more compression.

    You might have to email/call and ask someone about using a stock rod with the honda pistons and how it fills the cylinder when at TDC. Don't know what oversizes they have. Look for the posters "fordman"(Ryan Kerr) and "George Herrin" at E.C. Get in touch with those two guys. Ryan's in Ontario and George is in Tennessee.

    The pistons/rings are 1/2 the price as briggs, but the rod has to be resized for the larger piston pin.
