  • Kolher Oil Filter ?

Does anyone know a part # for a replacement oil filter by " fram " or
" quakerstate " for my kolher 440 engine. I remenber a fram filter on it when purchased many years previous. The dealership's 25 dollar filter could get me two other brand filters i hope . Canadian tire store sells all brands at around 11 dollars each . Looking to get out in the 25 centimeters of snow predicted for tommorrow.

I'm not trying to be goofy but I have a Kohler 440 two stroke and run gas oil mixture no oil filter required. So what is the oil filter for? Is there a pto or something on it?

          Oops wrong engine described. It's the 18 horsepower M18 in a 1991 magnum 8x8.

            Oil filters 101

Go into the local Walmart (personally hate the place) and look at the oil filter shelf. Looks likes hundreds of choices. They could all be replaced with just a few. Many of the differences are due to physical dimensions. If you have lots of room you don't need to worry about this. The two things to look for are diameter of "o"ring and size/thread pitch of the center.
            If I remember right my briggs vangaurd takes a ford fl400 or fram ph3600 (95 t-bird 3.8 v-6)
This is just a smaller version of what the v-8's took back in the 70's, 1/2 qt vs full qt.
If this filter doesn't work on the kohler try a fram ph3980 This is the chevy
            equivalent. (95 s10 4.3 v-6)

            Hope this helps

Right underneath your dipstick. You should be able to reach down in and feel it. You can't see it without a mirror.
