has any one tried to but a vw motor in a 6x6 i have a hot rod 2550cc vw motor but dont know how to do it but that might be to much

That might be a bit much. If it was all steel, maybe! 500cc - 600cc seems to be the cap for these safely without frame and brake mods. 2500cc+ might destroy the parts/frame. 80hp from what i've read is the capacity for most, leaving room for longevity. The more horseys the more wear in general!

Will be some work for sure, but anything is possible! Weight would be an issue, but you can overcome that. But there's never too much power casas.cars has some Gato Montes which have a Citroen engine in them, and Shanna/KevinGriffin has a ford 4-cylinder engine in a MaxII, and they even raced it at Ashtabula. Good luck and take lots of pictures if you do go for it!

Some of the free air 2-strokes they raced the springers with in the NATVA were rated at 80+ HP! Longevity would depend on how it's treated, and if the ATF was kept clean and regularly changed.

But, is that the race model or the stock unit?
Now, on the other hand I may have beeen a little out of line before because anything is possible (and I'm one to know) but he should do it. I was just thinking if it was a stock VW 4 cyl. then it only produces 76hp new. But, he said it was moded meaning it could produce anywhere from 115 to 170hp depending on the setup. And a simple turbo setup can do that. My VW club and I have built many. So it was my natural thought that for saftey it might be a bit much for a light weight frame. It would have to be beefed up to handle the extra HP. I'm not saying not to follow anyones abitions but safety is a concern. I would't want to see anyone get hurt. I'm sure the tanny can handle it just fine but, what about the rest? I'm new to the 6x6 world so there might be a model out there that would be perfect! Sorry if I offended anyone!
