So if the engine runs okay but the gen does not produce, are you looking to repair the genset or just want info on the engine for a different application? I believe that the 5.5 kw Dometic DTXP55 genset is the same as the Generac TXP55 genset. Some engine cases were made overseas with the internals made here by Generac or a jobber to their specs. Engine parts are hard to source. The actual genset model number should be on the data plate that is located on the alternator itself. If you can find the model number, please post it.sigpic

Don't hold me to this but I am guessing that your engine may be a Generac opposed twin and is somewhere around 530 cc's which puts it maybe 14-17 hp. Seeing how yours is at least 25 years old, I can't comment on how it compares to the current line of Generacs engines which are ohvi V-twin aluminum block with cast iron sleeves, solid state ignition with a magneto, 9.5:1 compression and are used in a couple of different branded commercial hydostatic mowers. Is yours propane or gas fired?sigpic

Okay. I'll keep looking in my books for info on it. Not much on the Web for these older genset engines. Is it an OHV V-twin or opposed?
Post up some pictures if you can. If it runs good and you can adapt the clutch on the shaft and the engine base mounting into the Max II, I'd say go for it and see what happens.sigpic
