Well bought this used argo a week ago and have not stopped driving it with no less than 2 passengers at any given time. Runs great love it especialy when you crash thru the ice and into the creek at night. Only to remember I don't have any plugs in this thing! All 6 of us somehow stayed afloat and crawled out. The next day we get 17 inches of snow and took the argo on the lake. Made it about a 1/4 mile to a friends house shut off the machine but let the fan run for about 15 min to cool the motor. Hung out for a couple hours. drove home did the same thing. Went to start a few hours later battery is dead. Jumped it and noticed the volt meter was only reading 10 volts. Until it was spinning at 3000 rpm's then it would go up to 14volts. Is this normal? The motor is a new kawasaki 29 horse liquid cooled fuel injected with 80 hours on it. I'm NOT a mechanic. But do know some about motors I don't see a altinator. Don't see how this system works. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

It's almost a given that the alternators on smaller engines won't produce a charge till they're revved up past a certain rpm.
An example, my Yamaha Maxim 400 idles at 1250 rpm and doesn't produce a charge till over 2000 rpm, so you run off battery at idle and just off idle.
Now this is an engine that can wind up to 10k rpm, so for an engine that goes to max 3600 rpm, the charging system may be a bit more economical.'70's Argo 6x6 - Rebuilt from the ground up. Briggs 18HP Opposed Twin.
