  • Mikuni carb conversion

After speaking to a seemingly well-informed 2-stroke expert, his advice was to ditch the Walbro and Tillotson carbs and transition my JLO 340 cc engines over to Mikuni's with fuel pumps. I would like to entertain any thoughts or experiences y'all have had, but I also need opinions on how many mm the Mikuni should be. He said somewhere in the range of 32-34 millimeters should suffice. Does this sound right? Also, will these Mikuni carbs bolt right to the existing studs on my JLO, or is there an adapter kit I will need?

    Thanks in advance,
    Erik

I recently converted my 340 to a mikuni and there is a rubber boot that has a flange with the two holes to bolt to the engine then the carb is slipped into the boot and clamped down. Some mikunis have a primer and others have a choke if yours has a primer make sure you get a primer kit also this will greatly aid in starting but be careful because its very easy to flood with a primer. The 32-34 mm sounds right mine is in that range but i dont know exactly what size. Also you will need the fuel pump make sure you only get a single out put if you only have one carb. I rebuilt my fuel pump as soon as i got the kits are cheap on ebay and really easy to install. I hope this helps.
