That may not be the only problem, but it's surely one of them. You may want to use a toggle kill switch for the machine in addition to the key switch. Just hook both kill wires to the two sides of the toggle, isolated from ground, and mount the switch in the dash upside down so that down is "closed". I've had to do that on machines that I didn't have the proper switch for.

hey guys, just thought i would let you know that i figured it out. i was laying in bed last night about to fall sleep and thinking about what my problem could be, when i realized what the problem was. i couldn't have done it without the suggestions that don and brian had made so much thanks guys. the problem turned out to be the way i had my switch hooked up, i had a ground wire running to the terminal marked g on my switch and the two kill wires both hooked to the terminal mark m. after don had informed me that i shouldn't have the two wires running to the same terminal i started thinking how this switch could possibly work with it only having one terminal for these wires. after thinking about it, i realized that i don't need a ground wire running to the switch since both of these wires ground out when they make a complete circuit between the two and determined that i needed to hook one of the kill wires up to the g terminal that i had my ground hooked to and the other kill wire needed to be hooked to the terminal marked m so that way when the switch is turned to the off position it would make a complete circuit between the two wires therefore grounding them out killing the spark to the cylinders and shutting off the motor. after realizing this i remembered that brian had mentioned that when he bought this exact switch for his jlo 400 all he did was plug it into his original wiring harness and it worked, so i went out to the garage to look at the old wiring harness and low and behold it was wired exactly like this. today i put on the new ends necessary for the new wiring scheme and turned it over and i had spark, can't wait now to fill the tank up with gas and hear it run for more than 2 seconds. thanks for all the help guys and for taking the time to throw out suggestions to fix my engine problems, it was greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Nate
