Engine Questions

Hey there folks, I'm fairly new here so please bear with me. I've got an older Max IV with the 16 horse b&s engine. Loaded down with 4 people sometimes it'd be nice to have some more power. Especially in mud and snow. I'm thinking 20 horsepower would probably do ok but just wanted some opinions on how much I should go for. Also, in my search it looks like new motors go for around $100 per 1 horsepower. Where does everybody get their engines? I'm finding it kinda hard to believe everybody is paying 1500 to 2500 dollars for their engines when they want to upgrade. Thanks for listening to me talk and I appreciate any help I can get.

You can find good deals here and there on ebay or craigslist if you are patient, both new and used. While you are upgrading motors you might as well look at everything from 20HP to 27HP + You can never have too much power.
