prepped the engine and got it running/ its a 1 carb 440 thunderchief engine had to take some internal parts like the slide and the needle out of my sons 400 chief jlo engine due to the 440 needle being broke . It would run if you stayed on the throttle rev up and run strong just will not idle. any help would be apreciated. I beleive someone said about checking gaskets with starter fluid in a post . anyone has a wiring chart for a thunderchief i will put a video on later showing it running if i have time to check the exhaut might be some blockage. had a battle with wasps yesterday when checking gas tank i think i won.

If it runs strong with the throttle, but won't idle, it could be one of several things, but carburetion (obviously) is the first suspect. Leaky intake or crank seals may also be to blame, but take it step by step, and we'll address things after we see/hear the beast running in your video.

i am sorry hydromike we took 10 vids the sound would not work on you tube works on ours lost it converting it. got it running and took it for a ride check out the video
