  • snowmobile engine?

Hey all - okay - silly / dumb question of the day - "Can a guy use an old Rotak engine (1975) in a Maxx 6 wheeler - I have 3 of them laying around and they are buillet proof but I am guessing they would over heat ?? Any ideas and feel free to say - " No dum dum - you can't do that !" New to this 6 wheeler thing and being from the north, we have some colder weather longer. If I could get my D@$#%! OH18 hp Tecumseh to work right -I would be good - May have to give in and buy an engine but fiscal woes are causing creativeness on a limited budget. Time to sell the boat and 4 wheeler

Back in their heyday, most 6 wheelers were running with fan-cooled snowmobile engines. Many of the the guys on this site are still running those old snowmobile engines. My racer has the original Chaparall (G50B) engine that came in the Attex Superchief. There are still a bunch of JLOs running out there in the 6 wheelers too. Hydromike (on this forum) is running a Rotax 503R in one of his racers.

I'm not sure you could use a Rotax that was not fan cooled or water cooled though.
