What kind of Argo do you have and is the bogging a new problem or has this been happening all along? It sounds like a typical Argo steering characteristic . Anytime you turn you will rob power from the engine because you are braking one side of the transmission output at the same time that you are still applying throttle. So before you turn you should get moving forward first and then turn. That way you are not starting out trying to turn which is effectively starting out with a brake engaged on one side of the transmission.
You shouldn't have to replace a spring on your motor with a rod. It sounds like you have other problems somewhere. What kind of throttle do you have? Handlebar, thumb, etc.

the bogging out started when i got it but it just got worse 2 weeks ago and as 4 throttle it had a twist throtle on it but the cable broke so i replased it with a thumb throtle that works way better than the twist ever did and when im driving ill come 2 a hill and hav loads of power at the start of the hill but once part way up the goviner will open the throtle wide open but it loses so much power u can walk faster and im not sure of the modle its a 1978 or 79 with oh160 and the factory tranny just had forward and reverse 6wheel now it has 2 forward gears and reverse

check the valve settings. They should be at .010 and .020. If the locking nuts were not tight, they could have rattled to any setting. I may be able to forward you the manuel from an email I sent to another member, unfortunately my laptop is being repaired right now so I am doing everything from my phone right now.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Pm me your Email and i can send the Techumseh manual that amphibious drew sent to me(thanks again drew)I also have a 78 6wheel,the carbs on the OH160 leave something to be desired! Are you still using the factory "pulse "pump? Also make sure the rubber fuel line not kinked bye the floor pan under the tank,or pinched between body and frame(becomes an issue when you go in water)You never know till you try it
