    HI GUYS I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME.I JUST BOUGHT A ATTEX 400 CHIEF WITH A 400 JLO
    ENGINE.THE ENGINE IS CLAIMED TO BE GOOD I CK COMPRESSION 145 TO 150PSI GOOD,
    BUT WHEN I TRY TO START THEIR IS NO SPARK.I WOULD LIKT TO KNOW WHAT READINGS I SHOULD GET ON WHAT WIRES-IE THE RECTIFIER,5 PRONG PLUG THAT PLUGS INTO THE ENGINE.I DID GO THRU THE WIRING DIAGRAM YOU HAVE POSTED IT LOOKS RIGHT ,IM THINKING BAD RECTIFIER,FUSES ORE GOOD BUT I ONLY READ PWR ON 53 NO WERE ELSE....

    PLEASE HELP

    unhook the 5 pin at the back of the engine (under the carb) and try the pull start. if it has spark then, you are looking at a wiring problem. if it still doesn't have spark, then you will need to replace points and condensers. you can get them at Snowmobile Parts

      well thats sounds easy enough ill try tomorrow so wo any wires hooked up it should spark??

        Only question is dont i need power from the batt to get spark??

          No battery is needed for a magneto ignition. The ignition switch grounds out the primary wires in order to shut the engine down, so if you disconnect at the engine plug, it will take that out of the equation and narrow down the problem.
          Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

          (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

              Hey it worked i pulled the flywheel sanded the points put it all back====started first pull,i cant say enough thank you..
