  • FUEL MIX ??

I have a 400 jlo pwr attex,i know the fuel mix is 20:1 but i have seen 50:1 due to the better quality of 2 stroke oil.what do you guys use and can i do 50:1???
    Thanks rocky

Im not an expert on this but I run 32:1 on all my stuff. That little bit of extra vs 50:1 dont cost much and as long as the plug dont foul, I dont worry about it. I dont want to risk it. Though I think you can safely run 50:1 with certain oils for sure. Not sure about all though.
Thats my 2 cents. What do others think?

Late to the party as usual, but I'll throw in another 2 cents. The more modern petro based oils are much better than what we used in the 70s and 80s, but I'm still cautious with them and don't go thinner than 30:1. The synthetics have such good lubricating properties that you can go with a much more dilute mix. I use 40:1, but I know people using them at 50:1 with no problems. Hope this helped.
Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

I have seen a couple of the old owners manuals from 40 years ago.....they called for a mix of 20:1 using SAE 30wt or 40wt motor oil. It must have been a big improvement to use oil specifically made for 2 cycle engines.
If you crunch the numbers, $15/gal for standard 2cycle oil @ 30:1 VS $10/qt for amsoil synthetic @ 50:1 the price difference is not bad. I'm still fouling plugs occasionally trying to use up the rest of the regular oil.
