  • JLO Flywheel Question

I recently got an old max to fix up and I have a few questions. It came with the JLO Rockwell L297 and it is in rough shape. It turns over and has compression but no spark. I had a devil of a time getting the flywheel off but in doing so I messed something up. I found a manual online but it's not really comprehensive. When the flywheel came off I noticed the cam retainer bent out of shape as well as the plate that it attaches to with a screw ripped out. It looks like I forced it to squeeze around the cup shaped thing outside of the points, etc on the shaft. Is the cup shaped thing supposed to come off? I can't see any other way of getting this apart than how I did. I appreciate any advice and I have a feeling I will be looking for an engine.

I figured it out. The cup was actually the end of the cam which should have come off with the flywheel. With the help of an acetylene torch I got it off. I also managed to straighten out and re-tap the backing plate and now I have spark! It should run now but I still want a bigger engine.
