LOVE the background, JoeMeg. It has that Cleveland feel.
The machine Joe H is driving is the SPIDER. That muffler is one that Whipper picked up at one of the buggy shops out here. He's been busy doing a new exhaust for Godzilla & he finally finished it. I'll have Whipper read this thread when he gets a chance.
You do realize that when i was down in 09 i broke the spider's exhaust also. I'm a little rough on exhaust systems.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
Yeah Whipper, that's real nice looking! Almost exactly what I need. I gotta hurry and order a 180 before the rest of my order ships. Would you happen to remember the name of that buggy shop in Phoenix or the brand of the muffler? Thanks.
Used this thread to fabricate an exhaust for my Kohler Command Pro 25HP engine. Thanks guys.
Muffler was the one Whipper suggested from Pacific Customs. Used two 90s, one 180 a 45 and a collector purchased from Robertsons Torque Tubes. Sourced flanges and copper gaskets from Midwest Super Cub. 1 1/4 pipes 16" long into the collector. Cut the plate off the factory mufffler support and welded on a 5/16 support bar to the collector. Glass beaded and painted with DEI Hi-Temp Silicone Coating. Exits in stock location. Sounds just like a Panhead.
I am really happy with the way it turned out and sounds. The links in the thread made it really easy to find the parts to build it. Everyone at the shop thinks it sounds like a Harley. It feels crisper in the throttle and kind of drones like a tank when you drive it around. It has a low LOUD exhaust note to it. Definately a sport exhaust system. My wife hates it. I will be giving it a shake down run next weekend at the Badlands ride. I think I will need to bring ear plugs for the whiney passengers.

Can you shoot a video of how your new custom exhaust sounds while getting on the gas and also under load too? I love the way it turned out.
Thanks, I was surprised how few welds it needed. I will see if Jason will help me get some video tomorrow. I left the muffler as a bolt on unit. If the wife continues to complain I was going to try the SuperTrapp 446-2010 silencer. It also has the advantage of being a spark arrestor but does cost 3-4 times the amount but will be quieter I know.
