M-18 Kohler Magnum wiring question

If you can see the picture in the attachment . . . This is a picture of my 1987 M-18 Kohler Magnum motor. On the front of the motor, there is a red wire and a white wire. The red wire is connected to a 12-amp fuse . . . not connected to the motor. Should this wire be connected? I recently saw a picture of a similar argo and this wire was connected to the motor. Should this one be connected ? Any info. would be helpful.

im pretty sure i can see where the wire plugs into in your picture.can only go to one place.
