  • Part fell into Engine

Hi I really need opinions, I was changing the oil on my 99 conquest argo with the suction pump and when i was pulling the tubing out a piece broke off and fell in, My question is can I start it? or what do I have to do now? Do I need to take my whole engine apart?

    Thanks

You will need to remove the part before you start it again. What exactly fell in? A piece of the tubing itself? Were you sucking oil out through the dipstick tube? If so, you may just be able to remove the tube and retrieve the part.

Edit: I just thought about a tool that may help you retrieve that part, if you have a flexible claw, you may be able to grab it with that. If not, you can usually pick one up fairly cheap. Here is one at sears: Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more

Just a thought, I've never had to try to remove something like you describe, but maybe you could block the machine with the right side up a bit. This would tip the machine so the engine drain is down a bit. pull the plug and set the end of a shop Vac at the drain opening.

I use a shop vac like this to change my oil all the time, to reduce the mess, but it might pull the piece out of the oil pan, or at least pull it to the drain opening where you could get at it with a pick, or "flexable claw: as mike suggested.

If you clean out the shop vac before you start, you will be able to tell easily if you got it out.

I am wondering though, was it plastic, metal, rubber, ect?
