  • Oil drain on a 2 stroke?

Ive pulled the sachs 280 from my amphicat, to clean things up a bit, and I noticed this drain cock on the base of the crank case! as far as I knew, 2 strokes get thier bottom end lube from the pre mix, or am I way way out of line here? Just wondering if i should be running this engine with some engine oil or what?!!!!

That is a crankcase drain, useful if you flood the engine and fill the crank with fuel, or if you need to drain water from the block. Be sure it is tight and sealed or you will have lean burn issues.

ahhh, now I see! that makes sense. I removed it and it had a few drips of an oily substance come out, no water tho, so thats a good thing! thanks for the reply, its guys like you that keep my first 6x6 project moving forward!

I'll have to remember that one. I've already asked all the kids at the local stores for a "67 VW Beetle lower radiator hose" and "Spark Plugs, Cap, Rotor, and wires for my 86 Diesel K5 Blazer" Amazed how many sit at the computer for so long apologizing that they have no idea why they can't find it.

I was wondering about that drain for awhile, on the winderosa site they have a complete engine break down and parts listing for that engine, and they call it an oil drain cock, I thought those Germans come up with the strangest things, so mabye it is! never saw that on any 2 stroke ive ever owned, then again ive never owned a 6x6 either!! Man I feel dumb!
