Traded in y 1999 Argo response for the new 2010 Argo Avenger HDI. Wow what a difference. I reaching my first 20 hour servivce. I changed my trans fluid last night no problems. However oil change not so simple..Three different owners manuals telling me oil drain plug in a different locations. Operators manual says drain plugs 7/16 square socket front and and back of engine. Kohler Aegis manual shows 5/16 hex socket front and back of engine and Argo manael I found online for Kohler Aegis shows on side of engine under the clutch..this on would be the easiest to get at.. I have determined by feel that it appears to be 5/16 Hex bolt. One front and back as well as similiar bolt under the clutch. Anyone done servicing on this engine yet???Where is the proper and easier drain plug for this engine..I would have went back to the dealer for first service but they 200 km away..and had to ask me how to install bench seat as they are new dealership.

Congratulations on the HDI. I am merely guessing here, but from looking at those motors a few times online (not in an Argo) the picture that everyone uses when selling them shows a drain plug on the same side as the oil filter, 90 degrees to the radiator.
Edit: Here is the picture. It must be a stock photo because I see it everywhere. Is this the same motor?

Well I think we have dual drain plugs on this engine. Front below starter and rear below the filter. Neither are easy to access..I dropped an e-mail to Kohler questioning the location of the drain plug and they referred me to the ARGO Owners Manual...Ironically the argo owners manual states:"The drain plug location is shown in the engine (Kohlers) owners manual". A small photo in the argo owners manual kind of has a line pointing below the clutch but unsure. I am going to try below the starter which is the same location as my old response.
cjlemey: I use to use a large ziplock bag and squat it beneath the plug location on my old response. It use to catch every drop. I would then zip it up and lift it out. No mess...
