Mikuni carb/ RI cable conversion

Hi Folks,

I've tried finding the post that Swift put on here some time ago about modifying the cap on a Mikuni carb to accept an RI throttle cable.

We've narrowed it down to drilling the top of the cap with an "I" bit and then tapping it with a 5/16" tap. The question I (we) have is the thread count the tap needs to be (or the thread count on the cable).

Is it 20 or 24?

I'm embarrased to admit that I've actually done this conversion before and I just can't remember. Sheeesh! The 20 sounds right and rings a bell. Does anyone know the thread count on RI's cable?

it would probably be 24. 5/16-18 is a coarse bolt, and 5/16-24 is fine... I'm sure they are fine thread if 5/16-20 exists, it is an oddball size
