Briggs 16 info please, might be time for a swap.

The 16 horse briggs in my 93 argo is starting to sound "loose" and I figure it might be time to look around for a replacement. A 23hp would be great, but i'm probably going to stay in the same 16-18hp range, and look for a good low hours used engine to save some bucks. The old vanguard wasnt going to win any races, but it had enough guts for me and my kid to have fun with. The engine is the original 303447 0326-01, and I need to verify the shaft length and diameter since i've never had the shielding off and never touched the clutch. IS this a 1 inch straight shaft, with a 3/8 tapped end? Its amazing that I can find every spec on this engine on the web but shaft length and diameter.
